Pastor Steve is a 1982 graduate of Wittenberg University and a 1986 graduate from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He has served as Pastor at St John's Covington; Sr. Pastor at Messiah, Reynoldsburg; Sr. Pastor at Holy Trinity Canton; and most recently, as Mission Developer/Pastor at Alleluia, Plain City, Ohio. Pastor Steve has served on various synod committees, including serving as the Chair of the Multi-Synodical Candidacy Committee. Currently he is serving another term on the Southern Ohio Synod Candidacy Committee. 

Pastor Steve is married to Gail and together they have two daughters, Samantha and Brianne and one son, Tadd. They love dogs and have two mini-schnauzers named Parker and Lexi. Pastor Steve loves all sports, especially football and basketball, and his favorite college team, after his alma mater, is Ohio State. His hobbies are music, video games, and working in the garden and on small construction projects around the house.



 Pastor Carey Hovland grew up in Newark, OH and was apastor-carey.jpeg (360x480)   lifelong, active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newark. She attended Kent State University where she received her undergraduate degree in Nursing in 2001.

 While working as an RN, Pastor Carey discerned her call to ordained ministry and moved to Columbia, SC attend the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, where she  graduated with a Masters of Divinity. As part of her training, she attended a two week cross-cultural experience in Tanzania during her first year in seminary followed by a full semester exchange program. It was during this time in Tanzania that she met her future husband, also a pastor, Rogers Mtui.

Pastor Carey was ordained in July 2007 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. She served as the Associate Pastor at Ngaruma Lutheran Parish, Tanzania from 2007 to 2012 and as the Chaplain at Marangu Lutheran Hospital from 2012 to 2013. This was on the slops of Mt. Kilamanjaro.

Carey and Rogers are the parents of two boys, Jeremiah and Nicolaus. Carey enjoys swimming and riding bikes with her boys, watching her sons play soccer and basketball, as well as scrapbooking, arm knitting, and walking.

Included in the information received by her during the call process interview, she shared her personal ministry statement. This statement clearly summarizes Pastor Carey with what we have personally seen, heard, and read about her: "Help create a vibrant congregation that is actively brainstorming ways to meet people where they are in their daily lives.”
